Job Summary

This role supports perioperative patient care within the Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project (RCHRP), a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase capacity, beds, and services. The position is located adjacent to the Sapperton Sky Train station in New Westminster, making it easily accessible by public transit.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient/client care and quality assurance activities, reviewing perioperative slates and determining personnel, equipment and instrumentation needs.
  • Provide clinical leadership and consultation to staff, ensuring compliance with standards of practice and promoting collaboration with surgeons, anaesthetists and other health care professionals.
  • Participate in staff development activities, including needs assessments, introduction of new skills/procedures, in‑service sessions and orientation of new staff.
  • Coordinate and participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, follow up on incident reports, identify trends, and recommend changes to nursing practice or protocols.
  • Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to resolve issues, encouraging confidential professional communication and documentation.
  • Set measurable performance goals, maintain professional development, and act as an expert resource for alternate supplies, equipment and technology.
  • Identify efficiencies in resource planning, monitor supply/utilization, and review specialty equipment use, including loans and cost‑benefit analysis.
  • Acquire and maintain in‑depth knowledge of perioperative services, participate in regional meetings, and assist with business case analysis for product budgets.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education

Current registered with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in the designated area, including one (1) year of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of post‑graduate coursework or certification applicable to the role.

  • Budget input for equipment and capital projects.

  • Operation of related equipment and software.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
