As a key member of the emergency care team, the Psychiatric Liaison Nurse performs comprehensive assessments and crisis management for psychiatric patients. This position supports the integration of mental health services within the Emergency Department, focusing on patient advocacy and continuity of care. Familiarity with mental health treatment and substance use is integral to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct psychiatric patient assessments and referrals
• Provide crisis counseling and develop care plans
• Communicate effectively with care teams and community providers
• Document all interventions and patient progress
• Participate in patient care conferences for better planning
Requirements:
• Graduation from a recognized nursing program
• Active registration with BCCNM
• Minimum one year experience in mental health settings
• Strong crisis management and advocacy skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments
