Regional District of Central Okanagan Parks Labourer (Seasonal)
Do you have a general understanding of park and landscape maintenance techniques? Do you have strong time management, organizational and public relation skills? If so, we want you on our Parks Services Team!
As the successful candidate as Parks Labourer (Seasonal), you will be responsible for setting the level of service for the general public by assisting to provide a safe, clean park area for recreation and leisure enjoyment of the public. This position will have primary interaction with the public and requires a friendly, helpful demeanour coupled with an interest in working in a parks environment in order to assist in achieving the departmental strategic goals.
You will:
- Collecting garbage, recycling and litter.
- Cleaning washrooms, facilities and infrastructure.
- Daily visual playground inspections.
- Minor facility and infrastructure maintenance.
- Completing inspection and maintenance reports.
- Providing information and assistance to the public.
- On-going trail maintenance and construction.
- Natural area management.
- In-house constructed capital projects.
- Horticultural activities.
- Facility and amenity maintenance.
- General park operation tasks.
- Delivery of the risk management program.
To be successful in this role, you must have completed grade 12 (or equivalent), have a valid BC Driver’s Licence and a good understanding of park and landscape maintenance techniques. You must have sufficient physical strength and stamina to do manual outdoor work in all types of weather and be comfortable working at times by yourself. This position requires experience using small tools and equipment safely, understanding facility and infrastructure maintenance, cleaning, construction techniques, and safe operation of ATVs, lawn equipment and tractors.
You must be organized, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a team player.
This is a permanent, seasonal position that runs 33-weeks from mid March 2026 to November 2026 (with entitlement to recall during the next season for full time, seasonal staff). This position will be a 40-hour work, with a shift schedule of either Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. This position has an hourly wage of $31.60.
