As a Quality Control Vision Specialist, you will play a key role in the development, training, and validation of cutting‑edge automated inspection solutions. You will work cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Automation, Production, Planning, Quality Engineering, and R&D teams to acquire, prepare, and create representative samples for inspection development. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, attention to detail, and the ability to identify, classify, and document defects while minimizing material waste.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess and acquire representative samples of manufacturing defects for automated inspection development, training, and validation activities in coordination with cross‑functional stakeholders
  • Create, prepare, and characterize representative defect and non‑defect samples that reflect production variation.
  • Organize, label, document, and maintain sample libraries and related inspection records.
  • Support automated inspection setup, training, troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement activities including introducing automated vision processes to the production floor including configuring lighting, optics, fixturing to optimize for part variability
  • Perform inspections, measurements, and testing samples from various manufacturing processes using standard quality tools and equipment.
  • Prepare reports and provide regular updates on the status of ongoing tasks, sample readiness, and project activities.

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:

  • A degree, diploma, or equivalent technical training in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in quality control, manufacturing, inspection, or a related technical role, preferably in a regulated industry such as medical devices.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to understand dimensional, visual, and functional inspection requirements.
  • Proficiency with measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, microscopes, and other inspection tools, preferably with familiarity in industrial machine vision systems or vision‑based measurement techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage samples and documentation accurately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Understanding of lighting, optics, fixturing, and part variability as well as familiarity with vision‑based measurement techniques or platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, HALCON, OpenCV, or similar tools would be considered an asset.
