Position SummaryThe incumbent develops, maintains and communicates the laboratory quality assurance system by ensuring that laboratory procedures are performed within specified quality guidelines. These activities ensure that quality requirements are implemented adequately and the quality system is reviewed, improved, and updated. The incumbent also works to reduce in‑process reworks and improve accuracy of results and customer satisfaction, reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
EssentialFunctions And Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance of all local quality and safety‑related documents (Procedures, Work Instructions,...)
- Assist with internal audits as per approved schedules and prepare related documents and reports.
- Assist with monitoring the quality activities, implementing corrective action and evaluating its effectiveness.
- Assist with the implementation of internal quality control programs, evaluation of the results and establishment of the internal repeatability and reproducibility of standard methods.
- Assist with data entry of quality control data into spreadsheets and/or databases.
- Assist with thorough investigations of quality failures, complaints and make recommendations for correction and improvement.
- Assist with managing the internal and external calibration program, review records and verify internal calibrations as per protocol.
- Assist with internal and external calibration and temperature profile program (syringes, thermometers, coolers, freezers, incubators, etc.).
- Assist with Client and Certification Body audits and maintain the approval status.
- Assist with conducting in‑house training sessions on quality and related topics.
- Assist with closing out of any non‑conformances and conduct follow‑up audits.
- Maintain reference standard inventory in LIMS.
- Maintain knowledge of LIMS required to complete job responsibilities.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.
- General knowledge of microbiology and chemistry from a related degree or job experience; basic knowledge of food science; broad knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies; general knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System; general knowledge of personal computer software and basic data entry skills.
- Planning skills to ensure analysis tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Oral and written communication skills required to write special reports and work with laboratory personnel on quality issues.
- Decision‑making regarding the accuracy and validity of testing results and proper means to investigate problems; recommendations to laboratory management on procedure or quality control system changes.
- Work toward general goals and objectives established by laboratory management; attain goals according to SOP and discussion with QA Manager; complete tasks within established time frame.
- Analyze internal quality control data to ensure results are within established guidelines, investigate deviations, and develop corrective actions.

- Experience working in a Microbiology or Chemistry lab (strongly desired).
- Frequent contact with vendors and laboratory personnel in all departments to coordinate quality assurance programs.
