Title of position

Roofer (NOC 73110 – Roofers and shinglers)

Job duties

• Install, repair, and replace roofing systems including SBS torch-on, asphalt shingles, TPO, EPDM, and related components
• Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles, shakes, and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs
• Install roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings
• Install single-ply roofing systems using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric compounds, and other asphaltic compositions
• Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs
• Repair or replace single-ply roofing systems
• Repair roofing systems on residential and commercial structures
• Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level
• Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools
• Install sheet metal flashings
• Install underlayments, flashings, vapour barriers, insulation, and other roofing materials
• Remove existing roofing materials safely and efficiently
• Inspect roofs to determine required repairs and report findings
• Load and unload materials and ensure job sites are kept clean and organized
• Follow all WorkSafeBC and company safety procedures, including fall protection requirements
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Terms of employment

Permanent position, full-time (40 hours per week).

Expected Employment Start Date

As soon as possible

Wage

$37.00-$45.00/ hr

Skills requirements – both Education and Work experience

Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

• Work Experience:
  • 3 years to less than 5 years roofing experience
  • Experience with sloped and steep-sloped roofing is an asset
  • Experience with flat roofing systems (SBS torch-on, TPO, EPDM, asphalt shingles) is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (required)
  • Fall Protection and other safety certifications are an asset

Language requirements

English (English and French are the only languages that can be identified as a job requirement, unless there is a specific reason for another language)

On-site requirement

Work must be completed at the physical job site. There is no option to work remotely.
