Take on a vital role as a Support Worker for Indigenous Youth, focusing on mentoring and direct engagement with families. This position offers part-time hours dedicated to fostering positive educational outcomes for Indigenous students.
Working at BC School for the Deaf, you will contribute by collaborating with educational staff and community partners to design and monitor targeted programs. Your responsibilities will include advocating for students' educational plans and facilitating their access to necessary community resources, ensuring they receive holistic support in and outside school.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct mentoring and outreach to youth
• Collaborate with educational and community stakeholders
• Foster parental involvement in student education
• Advocate for students in planning meetings
• Connect families with community resources
Requirements:
• Degree in community relations or social sciences
• At least two years of relevant experience
• In-depth knowledge of Indigenous cultures
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid B.C. Driver's License (Class
5)
