Position: Indigenous Youth Support Worker Temporary Role
Make a difference with the Burnaby School District as an Indigenous Youth Engagement Support Worker. This temporary, full-time position focuses on mentoring and supporting Indigenous students to enhance their social and learning experiences.

The Burnaby School District seeks an enthusiastic individual dedicated to empowering Indigenous youth. In this role, you will provide direct guidance and assistance to students, helping them access vital community and district resources. Collaboration with school staff and community partners is key to developing effective support programs tailored to students' specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide outreach and mentoring to vulnerable Indigenous youth

• Collaborate with school staff on targeted support programs

• Encourage parental involvement and development of student plans

• Advocate for educational plans during School Based Team meetings

• Facilitate partnerships for referrals to community resources

Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in relevant social sciences

• Two years’ experience in community relations

• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and practices

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Valid B.C. Driver's License (Class
5)
