Community-Focused Indigenous Outreach Worker

Location: New Westminster

Join School District No. 40 as an Indigenous Outreach Worker to foster success among Indigenous students. This role emphasizes relationship-building and culturally responsive practices within school and community settings.

Reporting to the District Principal of Indigenous Education and Equity, you’ll connect with students and families to enhance educational outcomes. Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, you’ll design tailored re-engagement plans and collaborate with various educational and community partners to address students' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster trust and respect with Indigenous communities

• Support student engagement via personalized outreach

• Collaborate in Student Engagement and Success meetings

• Monitor student data and outcomes for continuous improvement

• Facilitate home and community outreach initiatives

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Indigenous Studies

• Two years’ minimum experience with Indigenous youth

• Proficient in data tracking and documentation

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence for outreach purposes
