Family Support Worker at Aunt Leah's

Make a difference in Burnaby, BC as a Family Support Worker with Aunt Leah’s. This role emphasizes relationship-building and trauma-informed care for mothers facing vulnerable moments in their lives.

As part of the Thresholds Program, you will provide essential support to mothers and children at risk of homelessness and family separation. Your work will involve emotional guidance, practical coaching, and connecting families to vital community resources. The goal is to strengthen parenting and life skills, fostering greater independence and stability for participants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build trusting relationships with participants through trauma-informed care

• Support parenting, life skills, and crisis de-escalation

• Help maintain a safe living environment and track outcomes

• Conduct health and safety checks as per policy

• Liaise with community partners to aid participant goals

Requirements:

• Child and Youth Care or Social Services Diploma

• 1-2 years’ experience in relevant support areas

• Criminal Record Check and Food Safe Certificate

• Teamwork skills in a supportive environment

• Ability to work independently and manage crises
