Family Support Worker at Aunt Leah’s

Location: New Westminster

Make a real difference as a Family Support Worker with Aunt Leah's Thresholds Program. Support mothers and children through their complex journeys with a focus on trauma-informed, relationship-based care.

This vital role offers full-time hours, primarily Monday to Friday, where you’ll provide person-centered support to families at risk of homelessness. You will engage with participants to enhance parenting skills, promote child development, and connect them to essential community resources. Your compassionate approach will empower these families toward greater independence and stability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build trusting relationships with mothers and children

• Provide pre-natal and post-natal support

• Support independent living and enhance life skills

• Develop crisis management strategies as needed

• Document progress and participate in team collaboration

Requirements:

• Diploma in Child and Youth Care or Social Services

• 1-2 years’ experience supporting women and children

• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check required

• Strong interpersonal and crisis resolution skills

• Flexibility in handling multiple priorities
