Substance Use Prevention Specialist

The Burnaby School District is looking for a dedicated professional to implement substance abuse prevention strategies within a supportive school framework. You will work closely with staff to enhance their ability to identify and support students grappling with substance use issues. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to adapt safety plans for youth facing risky behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate expertise in health promotion and substance use prevention
• Assist in designing and monitoring developmental support programs
• Gather data on student needs through meetings and observations
• Ensure assessment and referral to risk-reduction service providers
• Facilitate workshops and presentations for students and staff
Requirements:
• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Relevant Bachelor's degree in addictions or substance use
• Minimum three years of related experience
• Knowledge of community agency resources
• Valid B.C. Driver's License (Class
5)
