Our team manages world‑class facilities including the Lorne Davies Complex and works closely with varsity athletics, recreation programs, student groups and community partners. The Role
Reporting to the Director, Recreation and Facilities, the Manager, Athletics and Recreation Facilities leads day‑to‑day operations, maintenance and scheduling of SFU Athletics & Recreation facilities. The role supports varsity athletics, recreation programming and external partnerships while ensuring safe, efficient and customer‑focused facility operations. The Manager plays a key role in major renewal initiatives, including Lorne Davies Complex upgrades, lifecycle planning and capital projects, and works closely with Facilities Services, coaches, students and community partners.
This position contributes directly to Athletics & Recreation’s strategic priorities by improving facility access, enhancing participant experience and supporting sustainable operations and revenue generation. The successful candidate will help implement new facility systems, support tri‑campus programming growth and lead staff in delivering high‑quality, safe and inclusive facilities for the SFU community.
We are seeking a collaborative facilities leader who thrives in a fast‑paced university environment. The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience, excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety, equity and customer service. They are comfortable working with diverse stakeholders including students, coaches, contractors and community partners, and can balance operational needs with long‑term planning. Experience managing multi‑purpose sport facilities, leading staff teams, and coordinating capital or renewal projects is essential.
The successful candidate demonstrates initiative, sound judgment and a passion for creating welcoming, high‑quality recreation spaces that support student wellbeing and community engagement.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Diploma in Facilities Management or Project Management and three years of related experience in implementing policy and operational plan driven by strategic goals for a large multi‑purpose facility, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
