Friday from 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM;
Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

This position works in the Edmonds Community Centre Aquatic Services organizational unit. The role encompasses both lifeguarding duties and high‑quality swim instruction on an assigned shift at Edmonds Community Centre. Lifeguard Instructors ensure the safety of swimmers, maintain a safe and clean environment, and engage with a diverse client base to provide exceptional customer service. Duties include educating on pool rules, performing minor maintenance tasks, providing first‑aid treatment, leading instructional and recreational aquatic programs for all age ranges, and providing information to the public regarding swimmer progress and instructional evaluation techniques.
Perform related work as required.
Up to high‑school graduation, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatic instruction, aquatic fitness, and pool maintenance, plus relevant experience; or the equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of lifeguarding theory and practice, lifesaving, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first aid is required. Ability to display sound aquatic skills and instruct in these skills at the standards set by relevant authorities.
Required certificates:
Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard – Pool, Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor, Standard First Aid, and B.C.R.P.A. Aquatic Fitness Leader. A Police Information Check is also required.
