Join Southern Railway of British Columbia as a Railroad Track Maintainer Trainee. Develop your skills in maintenance operations while working in varied outdoor conditions.
In this role, you will report directly to the Manager of Track Maintenance, performing critical duties to sustain track integrity. Your responsibilities will include manual labor tasks, operating track machinery, and conducting inspections. A mechanical aptitude and a valid BC driver’s license are integral for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct manual labor tasks like shoveling and tamping
• Operate machinery for track maintenance and repairs
• Communicate effectively with team members via radio
• Perform inspections of tracks and switches
• Drive operational vehicles in support of maintenance work
Requirements:
• Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent required
• Preferred Track Inspection Geometry Certificate
• Experience operating railway maintenance machinery preferred
• Solid mechanical and problem-solving background
• Must hold a valid BC driver’s license
