Position Overview

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Logistics Coordinator based out of our corporate head office in Burnaby, B.C. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day transportation processes of our metal recycling facilities in Southern BC and delivery to WA. This includes coordinating with each facility on a daily basis to ensure capacity is available for inbound and outbound shipments.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily inbound freight activities, ensuring material deliveries are scheduled and received efficiently.
  • Act as the primary logistics contact between customers, trucking providers, Sales, and Operations teams.
  • Schedule and dispatch transportation equipment, including roll-off trucks, flat decks, end dumps, and other specialized equipment.
  • Coordinate trucking capacity for demolition projects, off-site projects, and customer material movements.
  • Communicate daily transportation schedules, changes, delays, and operational requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor freight movements and proactively address scheduling challenges, delays, and service issues.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure inbound material flow aligns with facility capacity and processing requirements.
  • Support Sales teams with logistics planning for customer projects and material movements.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, including load details, carrier information, delivery schedules, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with trucking partners to ensure compliance with site requirements, safety standards, and transportation regulations.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, reduce delays, and optimize freight costs.
  • Ensure proper communication and follow-up with customers regarding delivery schedules and logistics requirements.
  • Provide administrative support related to freight documentation, reporting, and logistics tracking.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years’ customer service, logistics, transportation, or dispatch experience in a high-volume work environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple shipments and transportation activities simultaneously.
  • Understanding of transportation limitations, including weight restrictions, dimensions, and equipment capabilities.
  • Understanding of freight documentation, shipping requirements, and logistics processes.
  • Knowledge of INCOTERMS is an asset.
  • Ocean Freight/Freight Forwarding experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with trucking companies, dispatching, or transportation coordination is an asset.
  • Experience in industrial, recycling, construction, demolition, or commodity-based environments is an asset.
