Materials Management Worker

Our Finance Department has a great opportunity available to join the team as a Materials Management Worker
1. This is store keeping and clerical work of some variety and complexity. An incumbent receives, and distributes, a wide variety of materials, operates material handling equipment, and assists in inventory record maintenance. The work is performed independently and requires some independence of judgement. Work performance is reviewed by a supervisor for efficient store keeping activities, material handling practices, and the maintenance of related documentation and records.

Operates a counterbalance forklift, reach truck, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport and store materials. Inspects and verifies incoming shipments, records discrepancies, and rejects damaged goods. Assembles and packs outgoing shipments, records contents and affixes shipping instructions. Assists internal departments with requests for material information and assisting in investigating and correcting discrepancies. Maintains stores storage facilities; repalletize loads, replenishes shelves and organizes storage areas.

Provides information and assistance to internal customers and vendors on a variety of matters related to stores services and procedures. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 with a minimum of one year related stores experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of stores practices and procedures and regulations governing stores operations and the hazards and proper safety precautions related to the work performed. Working knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures. Ability to maintain inventory records and associated supporting documentation;

establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external contacts; operate computer systems and equipment related to work and office computer applications; operate a forklift. Physical strength (able to lift 50 lbs) and agility sufficient to perform the work. A valid Class 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia and Forklift Class 4 Certificate are required.

Knowledge of automotive and construction parts and materials is considered an asset.

Pay Rate: $29.48 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)

Hours of work:
This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts will be Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
