Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Civil Engineering & Infrastructure)

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Wales. Projects include Metro West, Environment Agency Frameworks, Local Authority and Council Frameworks, and Rail and Civil Engineering Infrastructure Projects.

• Support the commercial and financial management of projects.
• Assist with cost forecasting and reporting.
• Support subcontract procurement and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Assist with change management, compensation events and variations.
• Prepare interim valuations and support final account settlements.
• Collaborate with operational teams to monitor costs, progress and risks.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial governance.
• Build positive relationships with project teams, clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners.

• Assisting the SQS and MQS with the commercial management of allocated projects.
• Preparing applications for payment and supporting valuation submissions.
• Supporting the preparation of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reports.
• Assisting with project forecasting and cost reporting.
• Supporting subcontract procurement activities.
• Managing subcontractor accounts, payments and commercial documentation.
• Assisting with change management, compensation events and variations.
• Preparing interim valuations and supporting final account settlements.
• Collating and reviewing site records and supporting commercial audits.
• Carrying out site visits with operational teams to understand project delivery and identify commercial opportunities or risks.
• Building positive relationships with project teams, clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Supporting the production of monthly commercial reports and performance reviews.

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or in a commercial support role within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or rail.
• Degree, HNC/HND, or currently pursuing a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Proactive approach and willingness to learn.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative project environment.
