Dissertation Supervisor – Business & Tourism

Join GEDU Global Education as a Dissertation Supervisor supporting our vision of Changing lives through education.

You will guide students through their dissertation process. You should have experience in dissertation supervision and Business & Tourism Management, and be comfortable working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds.

Position details:

  • Salary: £250 per student (includes supervisory time, formative feedback, 1st and 2nd marking, ad‑hoc meetings)
  • Department:
    Academic / Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) partnership
  • Location:

    London (West & East), Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds – on‑site
  • Supervisory load: up to 20 project students; 10 hours supervision + marking time per student
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Academic Supervision
  • Support students in defining and refining research questions and objectives, advise on methodologies and ethics, guide literature reviews and material sourcing, provide structured feedback, and ensure dissertations meet academic and PSRB standards.
  • Student Support
  • Maintain regular contact with students, encourage independent thinking, address academic or personal challenges, and promote inclusive learning environments.
About You
  • Qualified to at least a Masters level degree in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in academic research and dissertation supervision.
  • Experience working in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodology, statistical programmes, and secondary data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of research ethics, methodologies, and academic writing conventions.
  • Understanding of and passion for higher education, especially with mature students from widening participation backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends/evenings and travel to campuses.
  • Good IT skills across Microsoft packages.
Desirable
  • External examiner experience.
  • Relevant industry experience.
