About the school
We are seeking a caring, patient and dependable Autism School Support Assistant to join the team at a special school, supporting pupils aged 8–16 with autism and social, emotional and communication needs. This is a full‑time role (Mon‑Fri, 8.30am – 3.30pm), starting ASAP with a supportive 16‑week settling‑in period. After this, there’s strong potential to become permanent for the right person.
You’ll earn £13.70 per hour while helping young people access learning, feel safe and build confidence.
- Supporting pupils with autism and communication needs throughout the school day
- Helping students access the curriculum and feel comfortable in the classroom
- Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and independence
- Working alongside teachers and support staff to create a supportive learning atmosphere
- Being a calm, reassuring presence who pupils can trust
