Salary: £140-233 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Are you a passionate and dedicated KS1 Teacher looking for your next opportunity in Burnham-on-Sea, Highbridge and the surrounding Somerset area? Connex Education is working in partnership with local primary schools to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated KS1 Teachers for opportunities starting in September 2026. We are particularly looking for teachers with a strong understanding of Key Stage 1 teaching, including phonics, early reading, writing, mathematics and developing confident, independent learners.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons across the KS1 curriculum
  • Support pupils’ development in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Manage behaviour calmly and consistently
  • Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and school staff
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
  • Follow school policies and contribute to the wider school community

Person Specification
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or pending QTS
  • Recent teaching experience, placements or strong subject knowledge within Key Stage 1
  • A good understanding of the KS1 curriculum, particularly phonics, early reading, writing and mathematics
  • Knowledge of effective assessment and classroom practice
  • A calm, positive approach to behaviour management
  • The ability to create engaging, inclusive learning environments
  • Excellent communication skills, reliability and a flexible approach to working across different school settings
  • A current DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one through Connex Education
