Mechanical Fitter

Our client, are looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to operate out of their Yorkshire/Lancashire depots. Our client predominantly works within the water industry on both waste and potable water. We specialise in carrying out mechanical engineering works on a number of assets, not limited to hydraulic systems, pipework, valves, wet well refurbishments, screw pumps, access platform installations, CSO installations and reservoirs.

We specialise in working within confined spaces and regularly utilise rope access to carry out our works.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be part of a site based team, responsible for delivering a range of engineering works. You will be required to fault find, assist in developing the methodology for carrying out repairs or installations on site. Duties included within the role but not limited to are:

• Supervising on site teams to ensure works are carried out safely, on time and to budget.

• Promote safe working practices at all times.

• To have an inventive mind and be able to assess and fault find mechanical failure.

• Liase with client to understand root cause of failures.

• Assist with ordering or manufacture of parts.

• Assist with RAMS development.

• Complete reports of works undertaken including photographic evidence.

• Ensure all paperwork is complete and up to date: RAMS, Permits etc.

Our client is a reactive company and regularly undertakes emergency works for clients. The role involves a certain amount of flexibility and overtime / working away can be a regular requirement.

Skills and Requirements

• Previous experience within the water industry would be preferable but not essential.

• A mechanical engineering degree would be preferred, however, is not essential and recognition will be given to relevant industry experience and knowledge.

• Full, clean driving license required.

• Proven ability to work in and lead engineering teams a varying size, safely and effectively.
