Financial Controller

Position: Financial Controller (Contract)
A long-standing manufacturing organisation based in Burnley is seeking an Interim Financial Controller to join its finance team during a period of transition and operational change. With a strong focus on cost control, process improvement, and accurate financial reporting, the business is looking for an experienced finance leader who can provide stability and drive improvements across the finance function. This is a 12-month assignment, offering a day rate between £350–£500per day with some flexibility around on-site presence.

Your new role

As Interim Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, leading a small team and ensuring robust financial control across the business. Working closely with senior management, you will be responsible for:

* Leading and developing a finance team of four, ensuring timely and accurate outputs

* Overseeing monthly management accounts, financial accounts, and balance sheet integrity

* Driving improvements in unit costing and standard costing within a manufacturing environment

* Enhancing financial systems, reporting processes, and internal controls

* Providing clear financial insight, variance analysis, and performance commentary

* Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making

* Collaborating with international stakeholders across multiple regions

What you’ll need to succeed

You will be qualified, part-qualified, or QBE, with proven experience in a manufacturing finance environment. A strong understanding of costing, stock, and production finance is essential, along with the confidence to lead teams and implement process improvements. You should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and able to add value quickly during a period of change.
