The Integrated Musculoskeletal, Pain and Rheumatology Service (IMPReS) covers the East Lancashire footprint of Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Blackburn and Darwen.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary Pain Management Service to support the development of a Community Pain Service.

If successful, you will be working alongside an existing Band 7 Physiotherapist and Team Leader within the Pain Management Service and will work closely with an established multi-disciplinary team of Pain Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Psychologists and Specialist Occupational Therapists, who are committed to improving the quality of life of people living with persistent pain.

• To act as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist providing a high level of clinical expertise with regard to advanced assessment skills and therapeutic interventions.
• To be involved with integrated working across the IMPReS model, developing best practice and innovative solutions, working across sectors and embedding practice across the IMPReS services.
• To be responsible for the evaluation of the pain management pathway including development and established use of quality outcome measures and provide highly specialist knowledge and advice.
• To provide teaching and highly specialist support in a variety of formats to colleagues/patients/carers/stakeholders.
• To contribute to the delivery of a highly effective, safe and personal service delivered around the needs of individual patients/carers as described by agreed goals/outcome measures.
• The post holder will be responsible for carrying a defined caseload of patients that require highly specialised therapy skills.

You will be expected to have a good understanding of the biopsychosocial approach to managing persistent pain conditions and as a clinician will be expected to be the first contact for some patients attending the Service. Therefore previous experience in Pain Management Services or the type of input provided will be required to assist in the signposting of patients appropriately within the multi-disciplinary team.

You will also be expected to be able to demonstrate clear clinical reasoning and have the ability to explain your decisions and actions in a way that all concerned will be able to understand. You will be required to provide effective management, treatments and techniques within an individual caseload and also contribute to the delivery of Pain Management Programmes.

You must also be able to demonstrate proven team working, flexibility, good time management skills, organisational skills, and evidence of self-motivation. You must also be able to demonstrate evidence of recent learning and examples of continued professional and clinical development.

You will have the opportunity to consolidate and further develop clinical and leadership skills and will be supported clinically and managerially by highly skilled and motivated clinicians at all levels.

As the Pain Management Service sits alongside other Services within an integrated model (MSK, Physiotherapy and Rheumatology Service) you will be expected to acknowledge the importance of close working relationships to assist the optimum patient pathway and provide support to colleagues within these Services for advice and education on the treatment of persistent pain patients.

• OT/Physiotherapy qualification Degree level or equivalent
• Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration
• Qualification in Leadership
• Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

• Relevant experience at Band 6 level
• Experience of MDT working
• Demonstrates a problem solving approach
• Appropriate post graduate clinical courses
