Cutting Tool Specialist

A global leading manufacturer of precision machined components serving the aerospace, defence, and energy sectors is seeking to appoint a Cutting Tool Specialist.

• Act as the company technical authority & specialist, ensuring tooling is used at maximum efficiency and providing guidance on process improvements and tooling use.
• Provide guidance & advice on tooling methods and selection.
• Inspect cutting tools using microscopes and metrology equipment.
• Identify wear mechanisms and recommend solutions to maximize use.
• Determine if tooling is being used correctly and identify wear and use issues.
• Perform root cause analysis on prematurely failed tools.
• Prevent scrap from worn tools and waste from early tool disposal.
• Provide inspection and wear data to Engineering Team to support continuous improvements.
• Maintain inspection records and wear criteria.

• Previous experience in CNC machining, tooling engineering or cutting tool applications.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments, optical microscopes, and tool inspection systems.
• Ability to distinguish between tool wear vs process damage.
• Previous experience working in the aerospace sector (or other highly regulated industry).
