Skilled Fitter – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Contract: Ongoing
Rate: £26.19 per hour Umbrella / £19.70 per hour PAYE
Overtime: Available
Morson Edge is looking for Level 3 qualified Fitters with manufacturing experience to join a long-term aerospace manufacturing programme in Burnley.
You do not need previous aerospace experience.
If you’re an experienced fitter working within manufacturing, can confidently use hand tools, follow engineering drawings and assemble components accurately, your skills could transfer directly into this opportunity.
You’ll receive the opportunity to move into aerospace manufacturing, working on the precision assembly of aircraft nacelle structures and components within an established, professional production environment.
If you’ve worked as a:- Mechanical Fitter
- Sheet Metal Worker
- Assembly Fitter
- Aircraft Fitter or Aircraft Technician
- Skilled Fitter
…and hold a relevant Level 3 qualification or completed apprenticeship
, we’d like to hear from you.
You’ll use your existing fitting and manufacturing skills to assemble aircraft structures and components to precise engineering and quality standards.
Your work will include:
- Fitting and assembling aircraft components and sub-assemblies
- Working accurately from engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Drilling, countersinking, riveting, fastening and torquing
- Using hand tools, measuring equipment, tooling and fixtures
- Positioning components accurately for assembly
- Checking your work against required quality standards
- Recording production and traceability information
- Identifying and reporting defects or non-conformances
- Working safely within a structured manufacturing environment
Previous aerospace experience is beneficial, but it isn’t essential.
What You NeedThe key requirement is a combination of Level 3 engineering qualifications and practical fitting experience within manufacturing

You’ll need:
- Level 3 engineering/manufacturing qualification or completed relevant apprenticeship
- Hands-on experience as a fitter within a manufacturing environment
- Good practical fitting and assembly skills
- Experience using hand tools and fitting equipment
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings or technical instructions
- Good attention to detail and precision
- A quality-focused approach to your work
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
Experience with
drilling, riveting, countersinking, sheet metal, aerospace fastening, composites or self-inspection would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
Don’t rule yourself out because you haven’t built aircraft before.
If you’ve developed strong fitting skills within another manufacturing environment, this could be an opportunity to transfer those skills into aerospace and build experience within a highly regulated engineering sector.
We’re interested in the practical skills you’ve developed, not simply whether your previous job title included the word “aircraft”.
