Inorganic chemistry

In polymeric materials, a fundamental transition is required from synthesis out of fossil-based and one time use to continuous reuse of polymeric products. Current recycling methods cannot recover high-value polymers from complex waste streams such as multilayer packaging and mixed plastic waste.

• Planning and conducting the synthesis of organic compounds and supramolecular structures for applications in chemical sensors (optical and electrochemical).
• Characterisation of synthesised systems using spectroscopic techniques (NMR, FTIR, UV‑Vis, MS, spectrofluorimetry).
• Supporting the design and optimisation of experimental protocols to improve sensor performance and reproducibility.
• Collaborating with research team members across disciplines to integrate synthetic chemistry with sensor engineering.
