and Turf Moor, Harry Potts Way, Burnley, BB10 4BX
and other locations as necessary
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2027
Working Pattern: 21 hours per week, worked across three days
Closing Date: Friday, 3rd April 2026
Salary: £23,000 - £23,500 per annum
The Role
Burnley FC in the Community’s Veterans Programme supports members of the Armed Forces community from across Burnley and East Lancashire. We support and run a number of projects within this programme to help Veterans connect, tackle loneliness and isolation, and improve health, fitness and wellbeing.
As our new Veterans Project Officer, you will liaise with the Veterans Programme Manager and other associated Veterans staff to ensure the success of the programme.
The role will support activities during our Veterans Wellbeing Hub at our Whitehough facility and act as support for other sessions across the programme including Football and Fitness. This role will also ensure outreach to other Veterans’ groups, to ensure the success of our programme and increased participation in all of our sessions.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Project Delivery
Assist on the strategic plan of the National Champion Project by working closely with the Veterans Programme Manager to meet all KPI’s and requirements.
Help to deliver the Whitehough Wellbeing Veterans project in accordance with our funding requirements to the Armed Forces Covenant Trust.
Monitoring project KPI’s and supporting the team with their individual targets.
Veterans’ Wellbeing Activities & Support
Help to develop and deliver activities and projects for Veterans which support their wellbeing needs.
Promote and encourage participation in the wider Burnley FC in the Community programmes which provide long term support for general wellbeing for Veterans.
Community Engagement & Partnership Working
Work in partnership with other organisations to create opportunities for Veterans to be involved in outdoor activities and external projects.
Work with veterans and the wider Armed Forces Community from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Referrals & Safeguarding Responsibilities
Assist referrals and signposting to other appropriate agencies including statutory services.
Keep accurate records uploading to data analysis software – Salesforce, AFCFT Impact Hub and My Concern.
Professional Development & Representation
Attend and deliver relevant conferences/workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
General
To understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Knowledge of the Armed Forces Community
Knowledge of the Burnley, Pendle and wider East Lancashire area.
Knowledge of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent IT skills, including intermediate abilities in all MS Office programmes.
Access to transport for work purposes and to travel to locations throughout the local area
Time management skills to be able to plan and regulate workload including the ability to prioritise demands…
