Gillette Children’s is seeking a full‑time outpatient speech language pathologist to join our rehabilitation team. The primary site for the position is our 305 East Nicollet Boulevard Burnsville, MN 55337 location and the candidate may be required to travel occasionally to other Gillette sites. The speech language pathologist position requires practicing in various settings including outpatient, telehealth, and occasional weekend rotation on the inpatient unit.

  • Monday: 8:00 am‑6:30 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00 am‑6:30 pm
  • Wednesday: OFF
  • Thursday: 7:15 am‑5:45 pm
  • Friday: 7:00 am‑5:30 pm
Purpose Of Position

Provides direct and indirect family‑centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence and community integration. Contributes to department, program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes. Therapists are expected to spend the majority of their work day in direct patient care and must be able to complete related indirect patient care including same‑day documentation while providing safe patient care.

Compensation

& Benefits Information
  • Hourly wage ranges from $34.77 to $52.13, with a median wage of $43.45/hour. Pay is dependent on experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity.
  • Hourly pay is part of a compensation package that includes a retirement savings match, tuition and certification reimbursement, paid time off, and health and wellness benefits for 0.5 FTE and above.
  • Additional differentials: $1.75/weekend and $2.35/evening differential are available for this position.
Core Responsibilities And Duties
  • Complete an evaluation utilizing principles of family‑centered care.
  • Design assessments aligned with evaluation goals, provider order, patient/family input and priorities.
  • Obtain necessary history and background information.
  • Select evaluation methods, tools, and environment to obtain valid and reliable assessment specific to the patient’s age and developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, cognitive and behavioral status.
  • Administer evaluation consistent with best practices and Gillette competencies.
  • Interpret evaluation for the patient/family and seek their assessment of the evaluation’s reliability and validity.
  • Make recommendations for treatment, referrals, equipment, resources and home and community based activities.
  • Document and bill for evaluation as per guidelines provided by the Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare Rehabilitation Therapies Revenue Cycle Team.
Required Qualifications
  • Professional licensure/registration:
    Speech Language Pathology state license.
  • Pending credentials:
    Registration and licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status and completion of CFY for Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90‑days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASHA certification strongly preferred for Speech Therapists.
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
  • Feeding clinic experience.
  • Experience with AAC devices, including programming.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Competency in evaluation, treatment and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services across occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech language pathology.
