Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our design team at our Burntwood office.

Role Overview

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the electrical building services design of hotel projects, working closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders to deliver coordinated, cost-effective, and compliant designs.

This is a hands-on design role, ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in building services and experience within a design-and-build contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce electrical designs for hotel projects from concept to construction stage

* Design systems including:

* LV power distribution

* Lighting and emergency lighting

* Fire alarm systems

* Data, containment, and earthing

* Prepare calculations, specifications, schematics, and layout drawings

* Ensure designs comply with current regulations and standards (BS 7671, Building Regulations, CIBSE, etc.)

* Coordinate designs with mechanical services and architectural layouts

* Attend internal design reviews and project meetings

* Provide technical support to project delivery teams during construction

* Review subcontractor and supplier technical submissions

* Assist with value engineering and design Optimisation where required

Required Skills & Experience

* Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within building services

* Experience working for an M&E or Mechanical contractor (D&B environment preferred)

* Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards and regulations

* Experience designing electrical services for hotels, residential, or commercial buildings

* Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience beneficial but not essential)

* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

* Strong communication and coordination skills

Qualifications

* HNC / HND / Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

* Working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. CIBSE, IET) is desirable
