This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join a growing and well-regarded accountancy firm in Burton-on-Trent. You’ll work with a wide range of clients across multiple industries, preparing accounts, supporting advisory projects, and mentoring junior colleagues.
The RoleAs Senior Accountant
, you’ll take ownership of your own portfolio and play a key role in delivering a first-class service to clients. This is a varied role offering a great balance between hands‑on accounting work, client interaction, and team support.
- Preparing year‑end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Preparing corporation tax computations and VAT returns
- Preparing management accounts and assisting clients with financial planning
- Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing guidance and feedback
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships
- Liaising with HMRC and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines
- Supporting partners and managers with advisory and project‑based work
- Identifying opportunities for added value and improvements in client processes
You’ll be a technically strong, client‑focused accountant who thrives in a collaborative and professional environment.
You will:
- Be ACCA or ACA qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Have at least 3–5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
- Possess strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance
- Be confident working directly with clients and reviewing others’ work
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Have experience using software such as Xero, Quick Books, or Sage
