DescriptionRocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest employer of full‑time, permanent musicians. We provide in‑school rock and pop band lessons to primary‑age children across thousands of schools in the UK, teaching over 100,000 children each week. The role is part of a regional team that travels to multiple schools each week, working independently within a remote team of musicians.
Responsibilities- Teach groups of primary‑age children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
- Teach drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals to children who have not previously held an instrument.
- Work independently as part of a remote team of band leaders and receive support from central teams.
- Serve as a rock and pop star role‑model, facilitating live performances at end‑of‑term concerts.
- Help children develop self‑belief, resilience and wellbeing through performing in a band.
- Represent Rocksteady by building strong relationships with schools, teachers and parents.
- Prepare for highly active days, travelling between schools, loading and unloading band equipment, and setting up and packing each location.
- Competent on at least two of the following instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
- Enthusiastic about learning how to teach band lessons and completing an extensive training programme before commencing the timetable.
- Resilient, able to handle a dynamic day that includes teaching, travel and performance preparation.
- Confident, communicative with children, teachers and parents, and respectful of individual uniqueness.
- Committed to promoting the safety and well‑being of children and young people.
- Organised and independent, with strong time‑management and administrative skills.
- Possess a UK/EU driving licence and own transport to move equipment and supply schools.
- Full‑time, salaried position.
- Work Monday to Friday, daytimes only.
- 11+ weeks paid holiday per year.
- Fuel contribution – 45p per business mile.
- Annual staff bonus – £1,500 per annum.
