Overview
Our client specialises in ground, environmental, structural and design, providing solutions for a range of projects across the UK, across a wide range of sectors, with the primary aim to maximise the potential of a site and, in doing so, the commercial return for clients. They are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to Join their team in Burton Upon Trent.
They are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for the design, supervision, and management of complex site investigations. This role involves overseeing ground investigations on-site, liaising directly with clients to deliver cost-effective solutions, managing sub-contractor procurement, and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities- The design, supervision, and management of site investigations, particularly for slope stability, settlement appraisals, retaining structures and working platforms. Including costing and procuring work from sub-contractors.
- Site attendance and supervision where necessary to oversee ground investigation and earthwork liaison with clients to form cost effective solutions.
- Interpretative reporting (geotechnical and inter-related environmental).
- Preparation of earthworks specifications in line with NHBC Chapter 4.6.
- Management and mentoring of team members.
- Preparation of and assistance in the collation of all project Health & Safety Documentation.
- Minimum qualification of a degree in one of the Earth Sciences, ideally with an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering.
- At least 5 years UK background in a ground investigation role.
- Member of the Geological Society (or similar) and working towards chartered status.
- Proficient in geotechnical investigations, analysis and design. Including slope stability analysis, settlement appraisals, retaining wall assessments and earthworks specifications.
- Ability to log soil and rock in accordance with the current British Standards.
- Proficient in the use of geotechnical analysis software (i.e. Finesuite Geo5).
- Track-record in the use of Holebase, AutoCAD, QGIS.
- Understanding of relevant UK regulatory guidance.
- Background in historical coal mining investigations and remediation would be advantageous.
- Willingness to work away from home and/or unsociable hours from time to time when required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal / team working skills, with a good working relationship at all levels of the organisation, clients and contractors.
- Able to deal with and preferably enjoy the challenge of rapidly changing circumstances and requests from clients.
- Full UK Driving Licence essential (Category B manual gears).
- The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
- Salary £38,000 – £40,000
- Accredited training scheme towards Chartered status

- 34 days annual leave (including bank holidays and Christmas shutdown)
