Job Description

To be responsible for shaping and delivering the residential homes Statement of Purpose and managing the team to achieve the same. To provide high quality care services that support the needs of children and young people, to be an advocate for their well‑being, and to provide strong motivational leadership to the team.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage a residential home and ensure the efficient operation of the service in accordance with relevant legislation, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose for the home.
- Safeguard and promote individual rights; provide good quality care free from oppression, respecting and valuing differences.
- Produce a development plan for the service to ensure delivery of high quality, clinically informed practice.
- Support adults to achieve the highest standards of care for the children and young people.
- Coordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions of the home, evaluate standards of performance.
- Assist and supervise continuous assessment of the needs of the children and young people, identify and prepare specific development plans to ensure appropriate service provision.
- Be involved in recruitment of the team including vetting, interviewing, inducting new employees.
- Contribute to a comprehensive team training and development programme to ensure necessary skills and expertise are available.
- Maintain individual standards through continuous professional development and records.
- Support the team to ensure longevity and good organisational retention.
- Contribute to developing appropriate relationships with adults, young people and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal and external multidisciplinary teams and commissioning authorities to meet care needs.
- Chair meetings, reviews and discussions as necessary.
- Ensure professional ethics and behaviour are demonstrated at all times; coordinate service provision and be focal point for support, advice and coaching.
- Assist in managing, appraising, supervising and supporting the residential team.
- Organise duty rotas to ensure needs are always met.
- Adhere to company financial and administrative procedures and work within budget.
- Ensure all professional practice and medication processes are conducted in line with legislation.
- Work with other managers to ensure coordinated efforts toward meeting emotional and physical needs and planning positive outcomes.
- Be accountable and liaise with regulatory organisations regarding home management.
- Register with the regulator and uphold registration requirements.
- Ensure necessary documentation is completed to a high standard and available for inspections.
- Promote therapeutic relationships among adults, young people and families; encourage involvement in day‑to‑day home life.
- Participate in an on‑call system.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; address repair/maintenance promptly.
- Participate in corporate and management activities as defined by the director of care.
- Perform any other duties as required by operational managers.
- Ensure safe working practices are employed in accordance with health and safety legislation.
A level 5 diploma in leadership for health and social care and children and young people's services or working towards it. Experience at senior level in a residential children’s home. Hold and promote the ethos and values of the organisation. Demonstrate reasoning, numeracy, literacy and technology skills to required standard. Work as a team, closely with colleagues and other agencies. Solve problems.
Work within the principles of the Children Act 1989. Sound working knowledge of safeguarding.…
