Grade Band 7, 12‑month contract (maternity cover). Full‑time or part‑time positions available, 37.5 hours per week across a range of shifts including weekends and nights.

Job OverviewAs Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will partner with the Matron to lead and manage the nursing team, providing effective clinical and operational leadership in the Emergency Department. Working collaboratively with the Lead Clinician, ED Manager and the wider multidisciplinary team you will continuously improve the department’s services.
Main Duties- Take overall responsibility and account for all delegated nursing care.
- Provide nursing leadership and accountability for patient, public and staff experience.
- Lead and provide expert clinical advice, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, effective and compassionate care.
- Operate within local, Trust‑wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.
- Professional and leadership development opportunities.

- NMC registration.
- Degree or relevant experience.
- Experience in an Emergency Department at Registered Nurse level.
- ALS and APLS qualifications.
- Minimum 3 years of Band 6 experience.
- Minimum 5 years of ED experience.
- Experience working with paediatrics.
- Post‑registration leadership qualification.
- Evidence of major incident training completion.
- Overall responsibility and accountability for delegated nursing care.
- Risk assessment and appropriate action.
- Management of clinical workload, prioritising and re‑prioritising.
- Ability to work across divisions during unit cover and deputise for the Matron.
