About Our Opportunity

We're looking for a National Transport Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in the leadership of our national bulk transport operation. Reporting to the Head of Transport, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of transport services across a complex national network, supporting the movement of materials to customers and operational sites throughout the UK.

Working across planning, fleet, operations and commercial teams, you'll provide the operational leadership needed to keep the network performing at its best. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex operational challenges and is passionate about delivering exceptional service while continually improving performance.

What You Will Be Doing

As National Transport Operations Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operational performance of our national bulk transport network, ensuring customer demand is met safely, efficiently and in line with agreed service standards.

Working closely with the Head of Transport, you'll coordinate activity across regional planning teams, internal and external fleet operations, commercial teams and operational stakeholders to ensure the network remains agile, responsive and capable of meeting changing business priorities. You'll proactively monitor operational performance, identifying service risks, resolving issues quickly and balancing resources across the network to maintain service excellence.

You'll use operational data and performance insight to drive improvements in fleet productivity, vehicle utilisation, transport costs and customer service. By working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, you'll help optimise network performance while supporting the achievement of wider commercial and operational objectives.

A key part of the role will be leading continuous improvement across the transport function. You'll champion greater standardisation, support the implementation of new transport systems and digital solutions, and lead projects that improve efficiency, strengthen operational resilience and enhance the capability of the wider transport operation.

You'll also support the development of high-performing teams, building strong relationships across the business and creating a culture focused on safety, accountability, collaboration and operational excellence.
