SEN Teacher - Bury
A specialist SEN school in Bury is seeking an experienced and committed SEN Teacher to join their team. This role is suited to a qualified teacher with a background in specialist education who is passionate about supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs.
The school supports children and young people with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition, SEMH and complex learning needs. Pupils benefit from a highly structured and nurturing learning environment where individual needs are prioritised, and progress is celebrated in many forms.
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a personalised curriculum that meets the diverse needs of pupils within your class. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider professionals to create a calm, inclusive and purposeful learning environment.
Planning will be adapted to suit individual learning styles, communication needs and emotional regulation requirements, with a strong focus on consistency, routine and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
Teach pupils with ASC, SEMH and complex learning needs
Create a structured, supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Assess progress using appropriate SEN assessment methods
Develop and review EHCP led targets
Lead and support teaching assistants and support staff
Work collaboratively with therapists, families and external agencies
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and behaviour management
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status
Have proven experience working within specialist SEN schools
Be confident teaching pupils with a range of additional needs
Demonstrate a flexible and reflective approach to teaching
Be calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
Support a child centred and inclusive ethos
Additional qualifications or training related to SEN, such as autism education, SEMH practice or behaviour support, are beneficial but not essential.
The school is ideally seeking a full time teacher working Monday to Friday during term time. However, flexibility on working pattern will be considered for the right candidate.
