Team – Homeless Accommodation Team About the role

Bury Council is seeking one Homeless Accommodation Move On Officer to join our Homeless Accommodation Team on a fixed term for 12 months. The role supports the Council’s statutory duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act and helps prevent and reduce homelessness by enabling residents to secure sustainable housing solutions.

  • Provide practical, person‑centred support to individuals and families living in temporary accommodation, helping them move on into suitable long‑term housing.
  • Develop and progress move‑on plans, identify needs and address barriers such as employment, training opportunities, budgeting support and maximisation of benefits.
  • Actively explore suitable housing options and work collaboratively with internal services and external partners, including supported accommodation providers, the private rented sector and other statutory and voluntary agencies, to reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.
  • Report to the Senior Homeless Accommodation Officer and support the achievement of positive housing outcomes in a timely and effective manner.
  • Travel within and outside the borough as necessary to meet service objectives and support households into appropriate accommodation.
  • Work 37 hours per week based on a usual business working week; may be required to work on a rota basis depending on service requirements.
