The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to support our COMAH Upper Tier site operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative, organisational, and coordination skills, who can ensure that safety management systems are effectively implemented, documented, and maintained in compliance with COMAH and other relevant legislation.

What you’ll be doing

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Maintain and update the site’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management systems in line with COMAH, ISO, and internal company standards.
    • Support the preparation, review, and submission of COMAH Safety Reports and associated documentation.
    • Ensure accurate record keeping for audits, inspections, training, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
    • Coordinate permit-to-work systems, ensuring all paperwork and approvals are completed and filed appropriately.
  • Audits & Inspections
    • Schedule, prepare, and participate in internal and external HSE audits.
    • Track actions and ensure close-out of findings from audits, inspections, and incident reports.
    • Maintain audit schedules, checklists, and evidence databases.
  • Training & Communication
    • Organise and record HSE training, inductions, and competency assessments for staff and contractors.
    • Develop and distribute safety communications, toolbox talks, and awareness materials.
    • Support safety committee meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and follow up on actions.
  • Risk Management
    • Assist in updating and controlling risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and process safety documentation.
    • Support the development and maintenance of Emergency Response Plans and participate in drills and exercises.
  • Data & Reporting
    • Collate HSE performance metrics (e.g., incidents, near misses, training, inspections).
    • Support the continuous improvement of HSE performance through data‑driven insights.
What we’re looking for

If you have a genuine passion for what you do and want to work in an environment that celebrates progress, teamwork and dedication, you’re what we’re after.

· GCSEs or equivalent (English, Maths & Science)

· Administrator training courses (desirable)

· Experience in chemical, manufacturing, or process industries.

· Strong administrative and organisational abilities with excellent attention to detail.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to liaise effectively with operations, engineering, and regulatory stakeholders
