Fixed Term Specialist in General Medicine - 12 months

West Suffolk Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Specialty Doctor to join the G10 ward team in General Medicine based on the main hospital site. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role in the G10 team. This role is central to delivering high quality, person centred care by providing skilled clinical input, supporting complex assessments, and contributing to robust treatment planning.

Working closely with two other Doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will help ensure continuity of care, timely interventions, and safe, effective service delivery. The position offers the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills, take on meaningful responsibility within the team, and play an important part in improving outcomes.

The role may also lead to weekend on-call commitments to support the Emergency Department pressures, should the right candidate be recruited.

Please see attached job description for more detail.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will support the current delivery of general medical inpatient services at the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant must have the pre-requisite leadership skills as well as team work, drive and ambition to succeed in achieving Ward G10 goals. It must be noted that during the Covid-19 pandemic, G10 was opened as an isolation ward, and on occasions (especially during winter pressures), a number of bays would be selected to be converted to contact flu/Covid areas.

Although all doctors within the department work to the framework of a job plan, there is a longstanding culture that applies the spirit of the contract where colleagues' cross-cover sessions in most areas to support leave or sickness and to help maintain the smooth working and efficiency of the department.
