Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager – Water Efficiency to be responsible for the technical development, specification and successful delivery of water-efficiency projects from initial site assessment through design, installation, commissioning and final handover.

This is a hands-on technical and delivery role, ideally suited to someone with a strong plumbing, mechanical or water-services background who understands how water systems operate and can translate site findings into practical, commercially viable solutions.

Unlike a traditional project management role, the TDM will be expected to understand the technical solution, develop the specification and then take ownership of delivering that solution on site.

The role provides a clear technical link between opportunity identification, design, commercial approval and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities Site Surveys & Technical Assessment

Undertake detailed site surveys of existing water systems and infrastructure.

Assess existing sanitaryware, outlets, pipework, controls, water pressures, flow rates, metering and associated equipment.

Identify opportunities to reduce water consumption while maintaining appropriate performance and user experience.

Record existing conditions through measurements, photographs, drawings and survey documentation.

Identify site constraints, access requirements and potential delivery risks at an early stage.

Design & Specification

Develop practical water-efficiency solutions based on survey findings and client requirements.

Select and specify appropriate products, equipment and technologies.

Produce clear technical scopes of work and specifications that can be used for both client approval and contractor pricing.

Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and material schedules.

Develop or coordinate drawings, schematics and installation information where required.

Ensure solutions consider maintainability, product life, compatibility with existing systems and whole-life value.

Work with suppliers and manufacturers to confirm technical suitability and product performance.

Technical & Commercial Development

Support the development of Investment Grade Proposals and project opportunities.

Provide accurate technical information to support project costing.

Obtain and review contractor and supplier quotations.

Identify assumptions, exclusions and potential variations before projects move into delivery.

Ensure the proposed solution can realistically be delivered within the agreed commercial allowance.

Project Mobilisation

Take ownership of the project once approved for delivery.

Develop the delivery plan and programme.

Confirm scope, specification, responsibilities and site requirements with all parties.

Ensure materials, contractors and specialist resources are coordinated ahead of mobilisation.

Review RAMS and other required project documentation.

Conduct pre-start meetings where appropriate.

Project Delivery

Act as the Technical Delivery Manager throughout the installation.

Coordinate and manage approved Delivery Partners, plumbers, engineers and specialist subcontractors.

Ensure contractors fully understand the specification and required standard of installation.

Monitor progress against programme and agreed scope.

Attend site as required throughout delivery.

Resolve technical issues arising during installation.

Manage changes and variations and ensure they are properly documented and commercially controlled.

Maintain clear communication between the client, contractor and internal SMCC teams.

Quality Assurance

Inspect completed and ongoing works against the agreed specification.

Ensure installations meet the required quality standards and manufacturer requirements.

Identify defects or incomplete works and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Maintain appropriate photographic and project records.

Ensure projects are delivered safely, correctly and to the required specification.

Health & Safety

Take ownership of appropriate Health & Safety controls throughout project delivery.

Ensure contractors provide suitable RAMS and required competency information.

Monitor site activities and challenge unsafe practices.

Ensure appropriate permits, isolations and site-specific controls are implemented.

Report and manage incidents, near misses and safety observations in accordance with SMCC processes.

Commissioning & Performance

Coordinate commissioning of installed equipment and systems.

Confirm installations are operating correctly before handover.

Where appropriate, compare post-installation…
