Restore Women's Aid are seeking to appoint a Finance Manager to join the team.

Reporting to the Principal Operations Manager, you will be required to oversee the smooth running of the charity finance function and periodic reporting to Senior Managers, Treasurer and Board of Trustees.

In conjunction with the board, you will be responsible for the periodic review of the charity's Finance Policy and Procedures including internal controls and you will ensure proper operation of financial controls including appropriate authorisation of transactions alongside the Treasurer.

Overseeing the work of the Finance Officer and the charity's Administrator, you will ensure timely and accurate entry of income and expenditure transactions onto the accounting system (My Fund Accounting  Online) in accordance with the principles of charity fund accounting and the charity's financial strategy.

Your other responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing regular reconciliation of key balance sheet control accounts (bank/cash accounts, Damage Deposit, payroll control accounts)
  • Regular review of nominal ledger and Fund and Grantor summaries to confirm accuracy of input
  • Working with the Finance Officer to ensure the payment of supplier invoices, approved by line managers, on a regular bi‑monthly basis
  • Working with the Finance Officer to ensure timely and accurate operation of monthly payroll and provision of payroll information as required
  • Monthly reporting to the Management Team, Treasurer and the Board, providing an overview of the charity's financial position including brief narrative on key figures and budget variances
  • Provision of financial data for periodic grant applications, and assisting the Principal Operations Manager and senior team with applications and reports
  • Provision of financial information to assist the completion of interim or end‑of‑grant reports in accordance with the respective terms and conditions
  • Providing other periodic and ad‑hoc management information to senior management and the Board
  • Preparation of annual revenue budgets for discussion with the Management Team and Treasurer, prior to Board approval
  • Production of annual financial statements in accordance with the Charities SORP and liaising with the charity's auditors to co‑ordinate the annual financial audit
  • Preparation of Gift Aid Claims and submission to HMRC.
About you

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience in financial management within the charity or not‑for‑profit sector
  • Good understanding of charity finance regulations, including Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
  • Excellent skills in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Good track record of managing a small team
  • Proficient with accounting software including payroll and Excel. The Charity uses Data Developments My Fund Accounting  Online for which training will be provided
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working with fundraising or grant‑funded organisations.
  • Knowledge of Gift Aid and VAT in a charity context.
  • Experience supporting Board‑level decision‑making.
  • Some experience of HR matters in the context of a small organisation
