Victoria Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, working part time or full time on a 6 week rota, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job- Dispensing medicines and collecting prescription charges.
- Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the dispensing manager to facilitate reordering.
- Receiving and storing supplies, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.
- Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy.
- Safely disposing of returned and/or out of date medicines.
- Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 72-hour timeframe.
- Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters.
- Processing prescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and online.
- Always maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Victoria Surgery is a well-established and friendly practice in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, caring for a patient population of approximately 11,000.
Our practice team consists of 9 list holding GPs and a dedicated clinical, management, administration and dispensary team, who recognise the importance of a good work-life balance.
We are part of the Bury St Edmunds Primary Care Network and the successful candidate will work alongside a team including paramedics, social prescriber, health and wellbeing coach, care coordinators and a pharmacy technician.

Person Specification Experience- Previous dispensary and pharmacy experience, ideally in primary care.
- Excellent clinical and medication knowledge.
- The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making.
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach.
- Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
- Sensitive and empathetic.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- At least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification;
