Position: Become a mentor and represent your client's healthcare interests

Become a mentor and represent your client's healthcare interests

As a mentor you stand up for the personal interests of an adult client with an intellectual or psychiatric disability or dementia. You have regular personal contact with your client and you support him or her in making important decisions in care and well-being. You act as a legal representative and maintain contact with the care providers and carers. Responsible and meaningful work that really makes a difference!

For example, for 75‑year‑old Carla, who is wheelchair‑bound and unable to speak. However, Carla sees and understands a lot, which makes it possible to build a good contact. She is very happy with visits and especially with a walk outside.

Or for Otto, a 62‑year‑old man with a psychiatric disability. Otto is care averse and unable to have real contact. This means that the mentorship is carried out remotely, in regular consultation with the Personal Counselor and the other care providers involved.

The mentorship is a legal protective measure, which is assigned by the court. The Northwest Midden Mentorship Foundation is appointed by the judge for this purpose. As a voluntary mentor you will start working for this foundation and you carry out the mentorship with a mandate. The foundation trains, supports and guides you in your role as a mentor.

We offer:

  • challenging volunteer work with content
  • work with your own input, which you can arrange flexibly
  • a good match and thorough acquaintance with the client
  • training and support
  • a monthly expense allowance

We are looking for people who:

  • have an affinity with adults with disabilities
  • have communication skills and be able to set boundaries
  • Dare to make decisions
  • have been trained at least at MBO‑4 level niveau
  • be available approximately 6 hours per month maand
