Environmental Permitting Project Manager – a hybrid position based in Butler, NJ, supporting the Planning, Permitting, and Licensing Practice. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and improving permitting programs to support quality and strategic growth plans, while working remotely.

• Lead and participate in a wide variety of site‑development, transportation, energy‑related, climate adaptation and resiliency projects.
• Manage permitting projects at the federal, state, and local level with a strong track record of success.
• Prepare permit applications, scientific reports, and environmental impact statements.
• Coordinate field work, direct and support technical staff, interact with clients, stakeholders and contractors, manage budgets, invoicing, accounts receivable, schedules and subcontractors, and support proposals and cost estimates.
• Maintain direct experience with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), federal Clean Water Act and related permitting (Sections 404, 10, 408), federal or state Water Quality Certification, other federal permitting agencies, and applicable New Jersey regulatory agencies (e.g., Waterfront Development, Coastal Zone Management, CAFRA, etc.).

• Minimum: bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, planning, or related field, and 5–15 years of post‑degree environmental permitting experience in New Jersey (NY experience a plus).
• Familiarity and experience preparing NEPA documentation (ENFs, EIRs, CATEXs, EAs, EISs).
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and juggle multiple assignments.
• Excellent verbal and technical communication skills.
• Positive attitude under aggressive schedules.
• Strong report‑writing, procedural and correspondence skills.
• Experience with sustainability, climate adaptation and resiliency planning (plus).
• Experience with socioeconomic and environmental justice analysis (plus).
• Willingness to travel to support projects, attend conferences and business development.
• Ability to pass a federal background check.

$130,000 – $160,000
