Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse, a Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for supporting administrative and direct patient care duties within designated care teams as assigned. The MA s task work will be directed by provider teams and they will be clinically supervised by the Lead Nurse/COO.

Responsibilities
  • Patient check-in and check-out tasks as assigned, including identifying patients and collecting required information.
  • Vital signs collection and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Review medication profiles, allergies, tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug use; document appropriately in EMR.
  • Support administrative and clinical duties across various procedures and care pathways as directed by providers.
  • Schedule appointments in EPIC for the assigned care team in accordance with policy and procedure; manage referrals and track status.
  • Perform venipuncture to obtain lab specimens, instruct patients on specimen collection, and perform CLIA waived tests as appropriate.
  • Assist with EKGs, wound dressing, and other procedures as directed by licensed professionals.
  • Maintain documentation templates and communications for Nursing Home visits (where applicable) and ensure accurate encounter documentation.
  • Update medication lists and process medication refills following approved training and sign-off processes.
  • Communicate with patients by phone, mail, or patient portal as directed by providers.
  • Provide patient education, self-management support, and assist with goal setting using intake forms and Epic documentation.
  • Support continuity of care and coordination with the care team, including post-visit follow-up and result reviews.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Completion or ability to complete a medical assistant training program is required.
  • License/Certification:
    Current CMA or RMA certificate preferred.
  • Experience:

    Prior experience preferred; prior experience with EPIC is helpful.
Job Requirements
  • If not certified at time of hire, ability to obtain certification within the period required by the State of Montana.
  • Maintain CPR certification while employed as a Medical Assistant.
  • Ability to perform CMA/RMA functions and operate a computer system with basic skills; proficiency in EHR/EMR usage is expected.
  • Effective communication with patients and staff; ability to treat patients of all ages and diverse needs.
  • Provide professional and compassionate care and apply knowledge to meet provider and patient needs.
Work Schedule and Compensation
  • 2 new positions being added.
  • 36-40 hours/week – 4 day workweek.
  • FLSA Non-exempt.
  • Hourly wage from $16.80/hr for non-certified, and from $17.05 for certified and higher based on experience, training, and certification.
  • Candidate review begins 11/16/2025; position open until filled.
  • Candidates must pass a criminal background check to be eligible for employment.
