This is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires significant experience with, demonstrated mastery of, and licensure to operate and maintain steam systems in the relevant municipality or state. It also requires significant experience with, demonstrated mastery of and ability to operate and maintain chillers and chilled water systems. Regardless of specialty, a Licensed Steam Operator may be required to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects.
Essential Functions Responsible for the oversight and operation, maintenance, and repair of the hospital's boiler and/or chiller systems. This includes performing water treatment on boilers, steam systems, chillers, and cooling towers, as well as maintaining and preparing these systems for inspections.
Leads and/or performs boiler and chiller teardown and major maintenance with help or supervision.
Leads and/or conducts activities for winterizing chillers and cooling towers, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC digital and pneumatic controls.
Ensures the cleanliness of their working area and assigned locations.
Can effectively communicate at all levels of the organization and prioritize their workload to manage their time effectively with minimal supervision.
Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of timekeeping documentation.
Has deep mastery of HVAC systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handling equipment, and other terminal HVAC devices.
Demonstrates a level of competency to perform work on routine to moderately complex systems.

Required Qualifications Licensure as a steam operator in the state or municipality where work is to be performed.
Demonstrated abilities to execute and lead plant operations and maintenance work.
Demonstrated abilities of the skills listed aboveA valid drivers license may be required for this position.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in a healthcare setting
Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
For roles requiring driving:
Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
Bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, climbing.
Use of hand and power tools, proper use of hearing and eye protection.
Exposure to extreme temperatures in nature, work in noisy or constricted spaces, exposure to odors and smells.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.$31.70 - $48.24
