Hours:

Monday to Thursday, 6:00am to 3:00pm. Friday, 6:00am to 11:00am

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

MILO Recruit is supporting an established specialist manufacturer in the Buxton area with the appointment of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, experienced engineering team within a complex heavy manufacturing environment. You will maintain the site’s electrical infrastructure, automated machinery and control systems, helping to improve equipment reliability, plant availability and production performance.

The site operates a varied range of equipment covering mineral processing, materials handling, automated production and high temperature manufacturing.

The role

You will be responsible for planned and reactive electrical maintenance across equipment including:

  • Crushing, milling and grinding machinery
  • Conveyors and automated materials handling systems
  • Industrial mixers and blending equipment
  • Hydraulic presses and automated production machinery
  • Robot cells
  • Kilns, dryers and combustion control systems
  • Weighing, batching and packing equipment
  • Pumps, compressors, motors and process machinery
  • PLC controlled equipment
  • Variable speed drives
  • Motor control centres
  • Instrumentation and process control systems
  • Three phase and single phase electrical systems
Key responsibilities
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance across electrical plant and machinery
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, instrumentation and controls faults
  • Respond effectively to breakdowns and minimise production downtime
  • Fault find PLC controlled machinery and automated processes
  • Maintain motors, drives, MCCs, sensors, safety circuits and control panels
  • Carry out electrical inspections and testing
  • Support root cause investigations into recurring equipment failures
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety and energy efficiency
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new machinery
  • Support small capital and continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders
  • Work safely under permit to work and isolation procedures
  • Liaise with production teams, contractors and equipment manufacturers
Essential experience
  • Time served electrical apprenticeship
  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent electrical engineering qualification
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Previous electrical maintenance experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong fault finding ability on electrical plant and machinery
  • Experience maintaining automated production equipment
  • Knowledge of three phase electrical distribution
  • Experience diagnosing faults on PLC controlled processes
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Understanding of safe isolation and permit to work procedures
  • Full UK driving licence

Due to the site’s location, candidates must be able to drive and have their own transport.

Desirable experience
  • HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing
  • PLC programming or advanced diagnostics
  • Variable speed drive commissioning and fault finding
  • Experience with robot cells
  • Experience with kilns, dryers or thermal process equipment
  • Experience with in heavy manufacturing, minerals, quarrying, ceramics, cement, brick, glass, foundry or a similar process industry
  • IOSH Working Safely or an equivalent safety qualification
