Wash Plant Operative

We have an opportunity for a  Wash Plant Operative  to join our quarry team orting to the Quarry Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the wash plant and associated quarry processing equipment, ensuring production targets, product quality standards and customer requirements are achieved whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping.

The role also includes the operation of loading shovels for the loading of aggregates and management of material stocks. At times, the role may also involve the use of other equipment such as telehandlers and forklifts.
Working Hours
This role operates on a rotating shift pattern:
Two weeks on  6:00am to 2:00pm
One week on  2:00pm to 10:00pm
Every third Saturday  6:00am to 2:00pm

Key Responsibilities   (Other duties may be assigned.)
Safely operate and monitor the wash plant and associated processing equipment.
Maintain plant performance to achieve production and quality targets.
Operate loading shovels and other mobile plant as required.
Load customer vehicles and support stockpile and material management activities.
Monitor product quality and support quality control activities to ensure customer specifications are met.
Complete routine inspections, pre-start checks and defect reporting.
Support planned maintenance activities and plant shutdowns.
Maintain high housekeeping standards across operational areas.
Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures and contribute to a positive safety culture.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity and reliability.
What We're Looking For
Essential
GCSE level education or equivalent.
Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to understand basic production data, quantities, measurements and percentages, and complete routine operational calculations and record keeping.
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to follow procedures and make sound operational decisions.
Desirable

Experience with in quarrying, aggregates, manufacturing, industrial processing or similar operational environments.
Experience operating mobile plant.
Loading shovel competency certificate.
Mobile plant qualifications (e.g. telehandler or forklift).
Relevant quarrying or mineral products qualifications.
Working Environment
This is a hands-on role within an operational quarry and processing environment. The role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and exposure to dust, noise, vibration, moving machinery and elevated work areas. Appropriate PPE and safe systems of work must be followed at all times.
