Valid Mississippi teaching license with endorsement in teaching assignment area. Bachelor’s or higher degree.

Supervises
Children enrolled in his/her classes as assigned by the building principal; his/her assigned teacher assistant and/or volunteers.

Job Summary

The basic function of this position is to lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth so that they have the opportunity to become productive citizens in our society.

Essential Functions

• Instructs assigned students at designated times and locations.
• Plans a program of study tailored to students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.
• Creates a conducive learning environment appropriate to students’ maturity, interests, and abilities.
• Guides learning toward district/state curriculum goals; establishes and communicates clear objectives.
• Uses a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and media suitable for students’ needs.
• Regularly assesses student progress; provides reports; communicates with parents.
• Identifies learning problems and notifies student assistance team promptly.

Additional responsibilities include assisting administration with policies on student conduct, maintaining classroom order, protecting students and property, keeping accurate records, pursuing professional growth, attending meetings, following asset procedures, serving on committees, participating in school activities, and fostering a positive school climate. Maintains professionalism in all interactions.

Performance will be evaluated per the Board’s policy on personnel evaluation.
